Toronto FC includes Sebastian Giovinco in preseason roster

The former Italian international has been without a club since August of 2021 and he will join the Canadian-based team in training in California.

Toronto FC includes Sebastian Giovinco in preseason roster

Sebastián Giovinco is looking to return to Major League Soccer after leaving Toronto FC at the end of the 2018 campaign. The Italian international left a mark in the league, winning the MLS Cup in 2017 and was named the Most Valuable Player in 2015.

Giovinco could return to Toronto

The ‘Atomic Bomb’ has been without a club since leaving Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal on 15 August 2021. Sebastian Giovinco has been looking for a team since then and Toronto FC has invited him to join the team’s preseason camp in California later this month.

The 35-year-old has been linked with a return to TFC, but his salary demands are too high for a player that has been inactive for almost six months. He has reportedly not received an offer from a club that satisfies his demands and Toronto are keen to sign him at the right price.

The Canadian team is looking to complete their roster after parting ways with former USMNT striker Jozy Altidore for the 2022 season. Toronto didn’t include Jonathan Osorio and Kemar Lawarence in their preseason squad, so Giovinco will have the opportunity to earn a contract in six exhibition games.
