“The USMNT is becoming the best team in CONCACAF” - Brenden Aaronson
The United States men’s national team midfielder believes they are currently the best team in the round-robin tournament in CONCACAF.
The United States men’s national team will play three games during the first international window of the year and they will start by hosting El Salvador at Lower.com Field in Columbus Ohio. A victory against the ‘Cuscateclos’ will keep the USMNT in second place in the CONCACAF Octagonal, but if Canada suffers a draw or a loss against Honduras, they will take first place.
Aaronson praises the level of each player in the USMNT
There are only six games left in the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF so these nine points are crucial for the United States and the rest of the teams in the round-robin tournament. Prior to facing El Salvador, Brenden Aaronson spoke about the improvement of the USMNT after failing to qualify for the World Cup in 2018.
Many Americans have signed for different clubs in Europe and Aaronson believes that it has helped the USMNT in this new process under manager Gregg Berhalter. “That is the goal and there are many ways to achieve it. A lot of players are in Europe and they have done a great job,” said the midfielder from RB Salzburg.
“I also think that the mentality of the young players is to perform well in MLS and then make the switch to Europe. The level of the team is impressive and we are close to becoming the best team in CONCACAF,” he added.
