Life after sport: athletes' career transitions | SIGAWoW’s eighth episode
SIGA’s Women on Wednesdays Show is kicking off its 8th episode with 7 incredible women sharing their views and experiences on life with and after sports.
Professional athletes and sports people dedicate their whole lives to their sports. When their time competing at the highest level comes to an end and they transition to the next phase of their lives, they don’t often find it easy to adapt. What happens when these girls, boys, women and men don’t feel supported enough or can’t find their new purpose?
That’s the question the latest episode of #SIGAWoW, better known as the ‘Women on Wednesdays’ show, aims to explore. The program is an initiative from SIGA, the world’s largest coalition seeking integrity and good governance in sport, that takes place virtually every first Wednesday of the month to tackle, from a female perspective, some of the most fascinating and challenging topics in sport, many of which are not talked about enough.
Each edition of the show brings together an array of engaging speakers to discuss, debate and help pave the way for other women, showcasing the importance of women empowerment in sport. This month is no different, with seven incredible athletes, active and retired, taking part.
This, the eighth episode of the #SIGAWoW show and the first of series II, is titled Life After Sport: Athletes Career Transitions and you can tune in for free on Wednesday 2 February 2022 at 10.00 a.m. ET, 16.00 p.m. GMT, 17.00 CET Time.
SIGA’s Global COO and Managing Director of the #SIGAWomen Program, Katie Simmonds, will be hosting this special episode dedicated to female athletes, their ground-breaking careers and the challenges they face when they transition after their playing career is over.
Among some of the incredible speakers that will take part are footballer Natalia Pablos Sanchón, basketball player Sonja Petrovic artistic swimmer Ona Carbonell, journalist and former artistic swimmer Reem Abdalazem.
Because AS USA is a proud media partner of SIGA, attendees will be able to watch live on LinkedIn & via Diario AS.
