Genoa’s Domenico Criscito set to join Toronto FC
The Canadian-based team continue to bring in players ahead of the start of the 2022 MLS season and they have reached a two-year deal with the Italian defender.
Toronto FC is looking like the team to beat in the upcoming 2022 Major League Soccer regular season. They have made some big-name signings in the past few weeks. The latest player set to join the Canadian-based team is Genoa’s captain Domenico Criscito on a two-year deal.
Criscito to join Insigne
According to multiple reports, the negotiations are in the final stages and the 35-year-old defender will join Toronto in July, alongside Lorenzo Insigne. Criscito has made 15 Serie A appearances with Genoa so far this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
The former Zenit left-back will arrive as a free agent as his contract with Genoa expires on 30 June 2023. Criscito made his debut in 2007 with Juventus, but he had a successful stint when he joined Zenit in 2011.
Criscito spent seven seasons in Saint Petersburg and he was able to win a pair of Russian Premier League titles and a Russian Cup. At international level, the 35-year-old was capped 26 times by the Italian national team and made an appearance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
