The ball that was thought to bethe last career touchdown pass” by quarterback Tom Brady, has sold for $518,000 on Saturday.

A 55-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mike Evans during the fourth quarter of the NFC divisional playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams, Brady cut the Rams' lead to 27-20 and made history.

And because it was assumed that this was Brady’s ‘last touchdown ball’ in his storied NFL career, the ball that Evans threw into the stands, went for a large sum. On Saturday, there were 23 placed bids on the ball, with some people predicting it would fetch up to $1 million.

Just 24 hours later however, Brady announced his return from retirement, which lasted 40 days, to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season.

That means that unfortunately for the bidder with the huge amount, this ball is no longer Brady’s last touchdown ball, but rather his ‘most recent’ one, which of course overturns whatever historic value that TD ball holds.

Brady, 44, established himself as the NFL’s greatest player by winning seven Super Bowls, earning three MVP awards, and making 15 Pro Bowls. He is now ready to take care of “unfinished business” as he joins the Bucs and their excited coach Bruce Arians for his 23rd NFL season.
