It’s the film-lover’s favorite time of the year, when the winners of the Academy Awards are finally announced. This year’s Oscars saw moments of laughter, tears, a punch in the face, and roller coasters of emotions. A variety of presenters, including Tiffany Haddish and Amy Schumer kept us smiling while reminders about the state of the world, the pandemic, and the war in Ukraine were sprinkled throughout the ceremony, putting into perspective the fortune we have to be celebrating an event like the Oscars amidst all of it.
