Luka Doncic is a Texas Rangers baseball fan

Doncic may be a basketball star for the Dallas Mavericks, but he’s a fan of the baseball team from the same city, too, and not just because he lives there.

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-112 on Wednesday. Luka Doncic put up 35 of those points and had 13 assists in a game which saw several Slovenian fans in the stands. Doncic said he wanted to “put on a show”, and that he did.

20 of those 35 points, Doncic scored in the third quarter and he made it look easy, too. Then, in the fourth quarter, he finished the job with a deep three-pointer, just a slight miss away from hitting his second triple-double in two nights.

The Slovenian All-Star has been a part of the Dallas, Texas team since 2018 after playing in Spain for Real Madrid. In his post game interview, Doncic was wearing a Texas Rangers baseball cap. “Yeah, I’m a Rangers fan,” he said, “thanks to DK.”

DK refers to Don Kalkstein, who is the Mavericks’ director of sports psychology. He worked for 10 years as the Texas Rangers’ director of sports psychology.

“I hope you guys know who DK is,” said Doncic. “I think he’s the most important guy in our organization.”
