Who David Beckham thinks will surprise in the World Cup
Beckham spoke in an extensive interview and revealed the two countries he is most excited to see play, and which he thinks will be surprising.
The ex Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham has played in three World Cups and scored in all of them. He spoke in an extensive interview about how excited he is for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The final draw takes place on Friday, April 1 in Doha and will reveal England's chances in the tournament. Beckham said he is looking forward to it because "the excitement begins here".
Beckham also made some predictions about who he thought might sneak up and surprise us this World Cup. England are one of the favorites to win, but Beckham said there is one rival they should be concerned with.
"When you think about the World Cup you automatically talk about Brazil, Argentina and France. They are all great nations who have won many tournaments," said the 46-year old former star. "Another country I am excited to see play is Denmark. I think they could be the surprise package. They've had a good lead-up and always do pretty well in major tournaments."
Denmark is one of ten teams (including England) who automatically qualified after winning their UEFA groups.
Beckham also talked about how excited he is to watch the hosts of the World Cup play/
"I'm also looking forward to seeing the host nation, Qatar. They have a young team who have been together a long time. They know each other well and I think they'll be boosted by the atmosphere in the stadiums."
