The Recording Academy, the organizing body behind the Grammys, unveiled the nominees for the 2024 awards in November. SZA leads with an impressive nine nominations, closely followed by Phoebe Bridgers, Victoria Monét, and Serban Ghenea, each receiving seven nods. Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Jack Antonoff all earned six nominations each.

Notably, Swift, a 12-time Grammy winner, has made history by being the first artist to receive seven Song of the Year nominations. Additionally, the 34-year-old - currently making headlines for her NFL connections - is in the running for a record fourth Album of the Year award. And we expect her to be in attendance.

Who is performing at the 2024 Grammys?

The Academy has been drip feeding those that will be taking to the Crypto.com Arena to entertain us between the gong handouts and these are going to include Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Travis Scott. Further performers will be announced in the coming days.

New Grammys up for grabs

It’s worth noting that the Grammys have expanded their categories with the inclusion of three new awards: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed, “By introducing these three new categories, we are able to acknowledge and appreciate a broader array of artists.”

These additions are part of a series of “updates and amendments” to the Grammys, aiming to make the awards “more fair, transparent, and accurate,” according to Mason. Alongside these changes, two existing categories, Non-Classical Producer Of The Year and Non-Classic Songwriter Of The Year, have been moved into the general field of awards. This move allows the entire Grammys voting membership to participate in selecting the winners, whereas previously, these accolades were housed in genre-specific fields, limiting voting access to specific Grammy voters.
