Chris Hemsworth back in Extraction 2 trailer

Chris Hemsworth returns to reprise his role as Tyler Rake in the upcoming movie.

Chris Hemsworth is back in action, reprising his role as Tyler Rake in ‘Extraction 2′, the sequel to the action-packed movie of the same name.

Hemsworth plays an Australian black ops mercenary who’s out to save the day, rescuing a family from the clutches of a villain who has imprisoned them.

The release of the trailer comes just after Hemsworth, 39, announced he will be taking a step back from acting after discovering he is at high risk of developing Alzheimer’s.

The trailer opens with a girl nervously shaking her leg while sitting in a prison cell until Hemsworth, as Tyler Rake, appears and tells her to step aside.

What appears to be a prison break then ensues, with Rake fighting his way out of the prison with the girl in tow. In a long action scene, Rake must fight people who attempt to take her away from his care.

He then experiences flashbacks to the end of the first movie, where fans might remember he was pronounced clinically dead.

A woman’s voice says to him: “Tyler? You were clinically dead nine months ago. But you fought your way back. You came back for this. Why?”

Rake becomes a one-man army, as he fights his way through the crowd of prison guards and other villains who try to stop him from his task. He even catches fire at one point, but nothing appears to slow him down.

The title card flashes, before viewers, catch one last glimpse of Rake shooting down a helicopter in a snowy location.

Building upon the first ‘Extraction’

Many actors from the first movie will be reprising their roles from the first movie, including Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Khan, along with co-stars Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.

‘Extraction 2′ is set to build upon the world established in the first movie, further honing in on the themes of sacrifice and survival.

The films are based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’ by comic book artist Ande Parks, director brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, and visual artist Fernando León González.

‘Extraction 2′ is set to hit theaters on Friday, June 16, 2023.
