Adrian Grenier, the star who left Hollywood for a ranch in Texas: “I didn’t want to die alone. I wanted a family”

“There’s not a lot of social climbing, not a lot of status people. Everyone’s cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, so to speak.”

Update:

Going from the glitz and glam of the Hollywood red carpet to the tranquil life of cutting the grass and feeding the horses sounds like a lovely change of pace we could all do with at one point or another. And that’s exactly how one famous face saw it.

Adrian Grenier’s departure from Hollywood life was less a dramatic, door-slamming exit and more a slow realignment of his priorities. Once a regular face on screens in the 2000s, his appearances began to thin out as he sought a different pace of life.

By 2016, Grenier had packed up his belongings and headed to Texas to immerse himself in environmental efforts and the simplicity of ranch life. Four years later, in 2020, he and his wife Jordan Roemmele had purchased a 46-acre property outside Austin: Kintsugi Ranch. And that’s where the story begins.

“Everyone’s cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, so to speak”

“I really liked the down home vibe,” he told PEOPLE. “There’s not a lot of social climbing, not a lot of status people. Everyone’s cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, so to speak.”

“A lot of times in cities, I’ve always felt a little bit like I have to keep up with the Joneses. And here, it feels there’s a lot of acceptance … When I wake up here, I don’t have anywhere to go. I’m here already.”

“You sleep better, you’re more grounded, you have a sense of wellbeing,” the Clickbait star explained. “It’s good for mental health, it’s good for skill building, resilience and all of that, I think it allows you to make more informed, wiser choices when it comes to how you live, how you treat others, and in particular, how you treat the environment.”

On the personal front, Grenier’s transformation is tied to family and reflection. He eloped with Roemmele in 2022 in a spur-of-the-moment wedding in Morocco, complete with “string rings.” “We were with a group of incredible friends, all of whom immediately rallied behind us and embraced the spontaneity of the moment,” he said. “They put in so much love and effort to create a wedding from thin air.”

The couple now has two young sons, and fatherhood has sharpened his focus on what truly matters. “I didn’t want to die alone,” Grenier revealed on his general change of life. “I wanted a family, I wanted partnership, I wanted to have children.” And to be honest, Adrian, it sounds great.
