Following the success of ‘Young Sheldon’, it looks like another ‘Big Bang Theory’ series is in development.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ was one of television’s most watched shows during its run from 2007 to 2019, and it looks like a new series may be on its way.
Is a new ‘Big Bang Theory’ series in the works?
During a Warner Bros. Discovery presentation to press and investors on Wednesday, in which it was announced that a combined HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service will be known as Max, news of a new comedy series was revealed.
Creator Chuck Lorre is developing a new series set in the ‘Big Bang Theory’ universe at Warner Bros. Television, where he has a deal.
Lorre will also serve as an executive producer if the proposed project gets off the ground.
What do we know about the new ‘Big Bang Theory series?
At this time, there are few details about the proposed ‘Big Bang Theory’ project.
No details about the plot are known about this time, while its unclear if any of the original cast members will be part of the show, though it is believed it will be an hour-long series.
The original series starred Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar, while Sara Gilbert, Melissa Rauch, Mayim Bialik, Kevin Sussman and Laura Spencer were later promoted to the main cast.
Should the series move forward, it would be the second ‘Big Bang Theory’ offshoot to move forward.
‘Young Sheldon’, which stars Iain Armitage as a young Sheldon Cooper, is currently in its sixth season. Parsons currently serves as the voiceover for the show, while Bialik has also lent her voice to the series for an episode that revealed the two had a son, named Sheldon.
It is currently the No.1 rated comedy on TV in terms of total viewers.
As for ‘The Big Bang Theory’, it will stream exclusively on the newly rebranded Max.
The show ran on CBS for 12 seasons and proved to be a major success for the network, winning 10 Emmys and garnering 18 million viewers for its series finale.
