Amber Heard claims “drunk” Jason Momoa taunted her by “dressing like Johnny Depp” on ‘Aquaman’ set
DC Studios have denied suggestions “professional” ‘Game of Thrones’ star Momoa tried to get Heard fired from her role as Mera.
The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial in 2022 was described as something of a “media circus” by some and, more than a year after the verdict, new revelations have surfaced concerning Heard’s Aquaman co-star Jason Momoa.
Legal documents related to the case, which contained notes belonging to Heard’s therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes, were recently released and obtained by Variety, and suggest the 37-year-old actress was constantly taunted on set by an allegedly intoxicated Momoa. Heard claims that, in the midst of her legal battle with ex-husband Depp, the Game of Thrones star turned up for filming drunk and dressed as Depp to torment her.
“Jason drunk - late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too,” reads Dr. Dawn’s notes.
“Threatening” Elon Musk saves Heard’s role as Mera
The notes also claim Momoa tried to get Heard fired from her role as Mera, precisely because of the controversy surrounding her court case with Depp. However, DC Studios decided to stick with her after receiving a “threatening” letter from Elon Musk, who she dated for several months in 2017.
Rumours had suggested Heard wouldn’t return for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, scheduled to be released in December this year, due a reported “lack of chemistry” with Momoa. However, she will appear in the movie after a source close to her stressed that she and Momoa had done a “chemistry test”. Mera will, however, play a reduced role, although director James Wan claims that had always been the plan.
DC Studios deny Momoa “drunk” claims
Following the release of the notes, a DC spokesperson denied that Momoa had in any way behaved inappropriately on set, saying the 44-year-old had been nothing other than “professional”.
“Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” Another source who was on the London set in 2021, meanwhile, told Variety that “Jason works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set. And he isn’t dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style.”
As of now, neither Heard nor Momoa have made any comment on the speculation.
