Are all Marvel projects at a standstill?

The MCU is increasingly feeling the strain from the Hollywood writers’ strike.

There is some bad news coming out of Marvel Studios, as everything the studio was working on has stopped.

A massive strike is currently underway in Hollywood, throwing a wrench into the plans of many production companies.

The impact of the WGA strike

At the beginning of May, the screenwriters’ union declared the failure of negotiations with major studios surrounding issues such as a flawed pay structure that does not account for streaming income, and the use of AI in the industry.

The WGA strike has been on for almost a month, resulting in a major shake-up for Hollywood — and even heavyweight Marvel is affected.

Upcoming MCU projects are at a standstill. The news comes after Marvel also suspended production on ‘Blade’, which was scheduled to shoot in June.

What Marvel projects are on hold?

Marvel has plenty of projects on the go, and likely they will come to fruition in years to come.

Upcoming projects include ‘Thunderbolts’ and the ‘Wonder Man’ series, as per Deadline.

The projects have been put on hold though, upcoming production for each was also scheduled for June. The team was informed Friday, with insiders revealing the plan is to resume production once the strike is over — at an undetermined date.

‘Thunderbolts’ is the name of a team of superheroes in the Marvel universe, much like the ‘Avengers’. Harrison Ford is set to appear in this picture, should it move forward after the writers’ strike.

As for the ‘Wonder Man’ series, the plot follows the rival of Tony Stark, as per the comic books. Wonder Man has no armor, but rather superhuman powers — attributed to chemical and radiological treatments on his body. It remains to be seen how the dynamic between these two characters will be portrayed in the Marvel series.
