Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children invited to the Coronation?
The Sussexes have been invited to King Charles’ Coronation, but does it extend to their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially been invited to King Charles’ Coronation, and though the couple have yet to confirm if they will be attending, Buckingham Palace staff are preparing for their arrival.
Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children invited to the coronation?
Although the Sussexes have been invited, it doesn’t look as though it extends to their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Palace officials believe the Sussexes’ children are too young to attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey according to the Daily Mail.
Nevertheless, Harry and Meghan are expected to spend part of the day with Archie and Lilibet as they celebrate their son’s fourth birthday that day.
While Archie and Lilibet aren’t expected to be in attendance, it’s believed Prince William’s children, Prince George, nine, and sister Princess Charlotte, eight, will attend, as the future King is anticipated to play an official role in the ceremony.
As for Prince Louis, who turns five in April, the Sunday Telegraph believes he will make an appearance, but that the Prince and Princess of Wales have yet to make a final decision.
It’s expected that the Queen Consort Camilla’s grandchildren will also be in attendance.
Her son Tom Parker Bowles has two children, ages 15 and 13, while her daughter Laure Lops has 13-year-old twins. It’s reported she is hoping they will carry the canopy that is placed over her as she is anointed.
Will Harry and Meghan be part of the balcony appearance?
As for Harry and Meghan, they won’t be invited to take part in the official balcony appearance as relations with other members of the royal family remain frosty.
“They will be given the cold shoulder by very many relatives. One said to me, “I hope they’ll be seated in Iceland,” a friend of the family told the Daily Mail.
“Many of the family just want nothing more to do with them. If they have to see them at the Coronation then so be it, but they do not want to socialise with them.”
While the Sussexes are expected to stay at Frogmore Cottage during their visit, the couple will soon have to say goodbye after being evicted from the property.
Though their lease on the home runs until the end of March, it’s now believed they will be allowed to keep it for a few months until they sort out having their belongings shipped to them in California.
