King Charles III is evicting his son, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan from the couple’s former home-base, Frogmore Cottage.

Reason for Charles’ decision

The king reportedly made the swift decision so that after the Coronation comes and goes, he can lay the family issues with his son and brother, Prince Andrew, to rest once and for all and move on. Prince Andrew is now invited to move into the five-bedroom estate.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Prince Harry and Megan Markle had received an eviction notice from the mansion within the Windsor Estate in January — 24 hours after the release of Prince Harry’s splashy tell-all memoir, ‘Spare’.

Laying to rest a family feud?

King Charles and Prince Harry have been on shaky ground since the Duke and Duchess surrendered their duties as senior members of the royal family in 2020, and the upcoming Coronation on May 6 is speculated to be a defining moment. However, Charles’ recent eviction of the Sussexes has changed the game.

A source close to Buckingham Palace said that King Charles evicted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex so he can start fresh after the Coronation, and put the problems with the Sussexes and Prince Andrew to bed once and for all.

According to the insider, King Charles wanted to put the problems in his family to rest and felt compelled to act decisively.

Charles wanted to start after his Coronation with the issues of Harry and Meghan and Andrew put to bed,” the source said.

“The situation has dragged on far too long and he wanted to act decisively and quickly.”

The royal family reaction

The Prince and Princess of Wales and Queen Consort Camilla reportedly back the king’s decision, but there has been concern among non-working royals about the eviction notice.

Though King Charles may have deemed it necessary, many worry that the move has deepened the divide between father and son and set a worrying precedent for how other members of the royal family may be treated in the future.

A source close to the family said that the eviction was “cruel and final”, with Prince Andrew, despite the events leading him to a new home, and his daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice reportedly “dismayed” at the sudden move.

Will Prince Andrew move into Frogmore?

The Sussexes have until after the coronation to move out of the home, and Prince Harry’s uncle, Prince Andrew, is set to move in instead.

The Duke of York is reportedly moving in, following a promise from King Charles that he would not leave his brother without a home.

It is rumored that Prince Andrew may already hold the keys to the cottage.
