The Foo Fighters have finally named a replacement for Taylor Hawkins. The new man leading percussion for the Foo is an old friend well respected musician.
The Foo Fighters are getting ready to head back out on tour a year after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Hawkins served as the band’s drummer from 1997 to 2022, before suddenly passing away on March 25, 2022 at the age of 50.
With the Foo Fighters set to play across the USA and Canada this summer, they have named a replacement drummer today (May 21) during a livestream.

Josh Freese
Freese, 50, is a well-known drummer in the music world. He played with the Foo Fighters at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts in London and Los Angeles.
His former groups inlcude the Offspring, Nine Inch Nails, Sting, Weezer, Guns N’ Roses and many more.
Foo Fighters upcoming tour
In February, the band announced they were adding three headlining tour dates to their previously announced 2023 shows.
The new shows include stops in New Hampshire, Arkansas and Alabama on May 24, June 14 and June 16 respectively.
They’ll also be performing at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 18. Find out where to get tickets here.
