The 2026 Razzie Awards "winners" for the worst in movies last year

Update:

Ice Cube’s War of the Worlds took home five Razzies. Disney’s widely-panned Snow White was awarded two Golden Raspberry Awards.

The winners of the 2026 Golden Raspberries - a.k.a. the Razzies - were announced on Friday, March 13, two days before the year’s finest big-screen achievements are honored at the 98th Academy Awards.

“Even Disney bungled that!”

Snow White, a live-action reboot of the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was up for six Golden Raspberries, including Worst Picture.

Starring Rachel Zegler in the titular role, Snow White is dismissed by The Guardian film critic Peter Bradshaw as “exhaustingly awful”, while the Boston Globe’s Odie Henderson complains: “This dopey remake made me sleepy and grumpy.” As the Razzies’ organizers put it: “Where is that safer, happier and more inspiring place - Disneyland? Well, even Disney bungled that!”

Another botched remake, Prime Video’s War of the Worlds, also was the winner of the night with five awards at this year’s Razzies. It won awards for Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Ice Cube), Worst Prequel, Ripoff or Sequel, Worst Director (Rich Lee) and Worst Screenplay (Kenny Golde and Marc Hymann).

The latest adaptation of H.G. Wells’ 1898 novel, Rich Lee’s screenlife-format film is ridiculed by the movie-review site Rotten Tomatoes as “an inept screensaver with wall-to-wall product placement”, while RogertEbert.com’s Brian Tallerico describes it as “the most hate-watched thing in years”.

Tallerico concludes: “It’s only rarely even ‘stupid fun,’ which was the hope of this critic who has seen every ‘Sharknado’ movie and chuckles at memories of ‘Mansquito’.” War of the Worlds is ranked at 71 on Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the worst films of all time.

With five nods each, the horror film Hurry Up Tomorrow and sci-fi’s Star Trek: Section 31 are the 2026 Razzies’ second-most nominated films.

How are the Razzies chosen?

Just as Oscar winners are voted for by members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, Golden Raspberry recipients are chosen by the Razzies’ membership.

Joining the Academy is a process that requires an invitation from the body’s board of governors, and is open only to elite industry professionals. To become a voting member of the Razzies, payment of a $40 fee will suffice. This year’s Golden Raspberry ‘honorees’ were chosen in a vote involving 1,217 members.
