Ariana Grande has been making headlines lately about her upcoming movie ‘Wicked’ and the dramatic change to her appearance she has undergone to fit into her character. This drastic change in appearance has also brought along an influx of comments on the singer’s looks.

But now Grande has spoken out about the comments comparing her appearance to her previous looks and how she feels these comments are unnecessary. She also goes on to explain how she believes that we should all try to compliment each other without focusing on physical attributes.

In a video posted to the singer’s TikTok account on Tuesday, Grande makes herself a coffee and delivers a PSA about the recent commentary and concern about her body.

“I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and paid such close attention to,”

Focusing on nonphysical compliments

Grande continues, “I think we could be — I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what… if you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is… healthy, unhealthy, big, small… we should really work towards not doing that as much”

“There are ways to compliment someone or to ignore something that you see that you don’t like, that I think we should help each other work towards just to aim towards being safer and keeping each other safer,” the 29-year-old singer and actress explained.

Different kinds of beautiful

“But I just wanted to say that, there are many different kinds of beautiful. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful.”

The ‘One Last Time’ singer also opens up about her past use of antidepressants and how it changed her weight. She describes that period in her life as the “unhealthiest version of her body.”

“Personally for me, the body you have been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest points in my life. When I looked the way you consider ‘my healthy’ but that in fact wasn’t my healthy,” She explains.

“Healthy can look different. You never know what someone is going through” Grande said.
