Ariana Grande ends her music hiatus with a remix with The Weeknd
The new remix marks the fourth time that Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have collaborated
Ariana Grande returns from a singing hiatus to release a remix of The Weeknd’s 2016 song ‘Die for You.’ This remix marks the fourth time the two have collaborated on a song together.
The last time Grande hopped on a track for a remix was in 2021, remixing The Weeknd’s song ‘Save Your Tears,’ a single off of his 2020 album ‘After Hours.’ The pair first collaborated back in 2014 on Grande’s song ‘Love Me Harder” from her second studio album ‘My Everything.’
New Lyrics
In the remix, Grande adds a new verse and sings, “I’m findin’ ways to stay concentrated on what I gotta do / But, baby boy, it’s so hard ‘round you / And yes, I’m blamin’ you / And you know I can’t fake it, now or never / And you insinuatin’ that you think we might be better / Better me and you / Yeah, I know you do.”
“You know what I’m thinkin’, see it in your eyes / You hate that you want me, hate it when you cry / It ain’t workin’ ‘cause you’re perfect / And I know you deserve it / I can’t walk away,” she adds and puts a spin on the song’s already pre-established chorus.
Promotion of song
Both Grande and The Weeknd celebrated the release of the remix via Instagram posts on Friday. “DIE FOR YOU REMIX OUT NOW @TheWeeknd,” Grande wrote adding in a bat and black cat emoji. In the post, she included five images of the pair together over the years.
The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye posted a similar set of three photos of the two singers together with the caption, “DIE FOR YOU REMIX // the journey continues @arianagrande,” with an accompanying star and moon emoji.
Grande and The Weeknd have also collaborated on Ariana Grande’s song ‘Off The Table,’ from her most recent album ‘Positions.’ The two also performed the song live in Vevo’s Official Live Performance series.
Since the release of ‘Positions,’ Grande hasn’t released any other new recorded music and instead is returning to her musical theatre background. She is currently set to appear in the two-part-film adaptation of the musical ‘Wicked’ in the role of Elphaba.
The first film is set to release on Christmas day 2024.
