Ariana Grande posted a video of her singing ‘Over the Rainbow’ on Friday, putting to rest rumors the singer had moved on from the music industry. Grande established that singing will always come first by belting out her adaptation of the song from the famous 1939 film, ‘Wizard of Oz’.

Previously, the public had accused Grande of leaving her first passion for acting — the star is currently filming a two-part big screen adaptation of Broadway musical hit, ‘Wicked’, in which she has the leading role.

The ‘thank u, next’ singer posted a video on TikTok to reassure fans that her music career hasn’t come to an end, and that she is indeed still singing — though the song she chose is a nod to the film.

“Wanted to sing you a little something but don’t want to sing anything that is not ‘Ozian’ at the moment,” Grande wrote in the caption. “Keeping to my little bubble for now. Done with lots of love.”

“Ozian” is a reference to people from the wonderful world of the ‘Wizard of Oz’, the film on which ‘Wicked’ is based.

The TikTok video was an acapella performance captured before going on-set during the filming of the much-anticipated movie.

Ariana Grande reassures fans

The Grammy Award winner responded to critics who asked, “Why aren’t you still a singer?” in a TikTok post, retorting that she is “on set filming two musical movies all day every day”.

Co-star in the upcoming film Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, shared Grande’s post on Instagram to back up her friend. “She is and always will be a singer, she just happens to be able to do more than that!!! Now…as you were…we’re working!!!”

In an Entertainment Weekly interview last February, Elviro told Laverne Cox that the two were getting along famously.

“Ariana and I have been meeting and chatting and talking and building our own relationship because we know that it’s a sisterhood and we want to be ready and prepared to be there for one another,” said Elviro. “It’s the most delightful thing ever. We sat for like three hours on the floor of my house and just chatted and talked about everything.”
