Ashley Graham responds after viral Hugh Grant interview at the Oscars
Supermodel Ashley Graham and Hugh Grant went viral on Sunday, and the 35-year-old is taking it all in stride.
Ashley Graham’s awkward exchange with Hugh Grant at the Oscars pre-show made headlines on Sunday night.
The 35-year-old supermodel interviewed A-listers as they arrived at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the event, but it was her interaction with Grant that left viewers at home talking.
“You know what? My mama told me to kill people with kindness,” she told TMZ while at LAX. “So there you go.”
Fans divided on Grant’s responses
Although Grant is known for his wit and sarcasm, it didn’t seem Graham was ready for his lack of responses.
The interview got off to a painful start when Graham asked Grant what his favorite thing about attending the Oscars was.
“It’s fascinating … the whole of humanity is here, it’s vanity fair,” the 62-year-old responded after an initial pause.
Graham then asked the actor if he was excited by the prospects of any of the actors winning, to which he responded: “No one in particular.”
The supermodel tried her luck with another question, asking Grant what he was wearing. His response: “Just my suit.”
Lastly, Graham asked Grant about his appearance in the Knives Out sequel ‘Glass Onion’, which was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.
“So tell me what was it like to be in ‘Glass Onion’?” she asked, adding: “It was such an amazing film. I really loved it. How is it to shoot something like that?”
Grant said: “Well, I’m barely in it. I’m in it for about three seconds.”
Soon after Graham wrapped up the interview, with the interaction dividing viewers.
“Ashley Graham interviewing Hugh Grant is the most awkward piece of television in 2023 and I’m living for it,” wrote one fan.
“Hugh Grant wasn’t rude like so many people have posted, I don’t think the interviewer or the people who think he was rude know Hugh Grant. Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer,” wrote another.
Another commented: “Hugh, If you don’t want to be there go home. Worst Oscars interviews ever.”
