Recently, Austin Butler expressed his gratitude over being a child actor. This, apparently, allowed him to make mistakes and improve his acting abilities from such a young age.

Butler’s acting career began in 2005 when he starred as an extra in several teen sitcoms including Nickelodeon’s ‘Drake & Josh’, ‘Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide’, etc.

“I am grateful I started young because it allowed me a lot of time to make mistakes. I had so many years of really bad acting.

“And I still have so much to learn, but that’s what really excites me about acting is that you, it’s like anything, you can improve, and get better. It excites me to think about 10 years from now how I will have grown and how you can continually try to find more truth.”

The child actor conversation

This is a particularly interesting stance for Butler to take since many actors have been coming out over the terrible hardships they endured as child stars.

The most notable example of recent times is Jennette McCurdy who wrote a book last summer titled “I’m Glad My Mom Died” which covers her experiences in great detail.

McCurdy starred in Nickelodeon’s ‘iCarly’ as Sam Puckett and her memoir touches upon abuse, eating disorders, dysfunctional families and more.

Furthermore, other stars like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have chosen to step out of the spotlight due to the struggles they faced for so long while so young.

The king of rock and roll

Butler gained newfound notoriety for his role as Elvis Presley in 2022′s ‘Elvis’. The film is a biopic of Presley’s life.

The film has since been nominated for several accolades including eight Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and many more.

Butler has already won the Golden Globe for Best Actor - Motion Picture Drama, the People’s Choice Award for Drama Movie Star of 2022 and more.
