Woody Harrelson and Jack White joining SNL’s Five-Timers Club

Saturday’s SNL appearance marks the fifth time they’ve both been on the show

Update:
Actor Woody Harrelson and musician Jack White will be joining the Five-Timers Club when they make their appearance on Saturday’s episode of the late-night show, with Harrelson promoting his new movie ‘Champions’.

Harrelson’s first time hosting the show was in 1989, followed by subsequent appearances in 1992, 2014, and 2019. As a musical guest, Jack White appeared on the show in 2002 as part of The White Stripes, followed by appearances in 2012, 2018, and 2020.
Harrelson’s history as host
Harrelson’s first episode as host saw the young actor come on in support of ‘Cheers’. His musical guest was David Byrne. Harrelson becomes the 24th SNL host to join the illustrious club.

Before Harrelson became the 24th person in the club, Drew Barrymore was the last person to host the show five times, joining the club on February 3, 2007, although she has since hosted a sixth show back in 2009.
What is the Five-Timers Club?
The Five-Timers Club, as it’s come to be called, came about on December 8, 1990, when Tom Hanks, on what was his fifth time hosting the show, said “the fifth time you do the show is the most special of all because you get one of these: a membership card in the Five-Timers Club.”

Other guest hosts who have had the honor to host the late-night comedy sketch show at least five times are original cast member Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, and Danny DeVito.
Other exciting SNL hosts in the coming weeks
The upcoming three weeks will see an exciting variety of hosts before the show goes on break. Super Bowl LVII winner Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs will debut on the show with Kelse Ballerini on the March 4 episode. On March 11 ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega will also be making her SNL hosting debut with musical guest The 1975.
