‘Barbie’ movie soundtrack to feature a number of A-listers including Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, and more

Excitement for the upcoming ‘Barbie’ movie starring Margot Robbie as the famous doll is well underway, and now a soundtrack for the movie featuring a number of A-list stars has been teased.

The guests named so far include Charli XCX, Lizzo, Fifty Fifty, Nicki Minaj, Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, GAYLE, Ava Max, Karol G, Khalid, The Kid LAROI, and even Ken actor Ryan Gosling will be making an appearance.

More musical guests are set to be announced.

Dua Lipa’s upcoming single for the soundtrack ‘Dance the Night’, a disco-inspired pop song, will also be released on Friday, May 26 at midnight BST.

Lipa plays the mermaid Barbie in the movie.

A Barbie-themed announcement

The ‘Barbie’ soundtrack reveal was shared on social media, featuring Margot Robbie in character as Barbie, wearing an oversized pair of pink sunglasses, and her hair up in a colorful headscarf.

She’s reading the latest issue of “Barbie News”, the cover of which features the names of all the current guests to be included in the soundtrack.

The full list of artists revealed so far is: Ava Max, Charli XCX, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FIFTY FIFTY, GAYLE, HAIM, Ice Spice, Kali, Karol G, Khalid, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, PinkPantheress, Ryan Gosling, Tame Impala, and The Kid Laroi.

The announcement also hints that even more “Barbies” and “Kens” will be announced up until the soundtrack’s release on July 21, 2023, the same date as the movie.

The soundtrack will be executive produced by Mark Ronson.

Will Aqua be on the soundtrack?

Fans may be disappointed to learn that Aqua, the Danish pop band who released the hit song ‘Barbie Girl’ in 1997, may not be on the upcoming soundtrack.

But Ava Max, who released a song in 2017 titled ‘Not Your Barbie Girl’, which includes a sample of the Aqua song, is featured on the album.

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice will also be reportedly releasing a new song sampling ‘Barbie Girl’ called ‘Barbie World’ exclusively for the soundtrack.

Pre-orders for the soundtrack are already available

A number of limited edition variations of vinyl colors and cassette tapes are available for pre-order on barbiethealbum.com.

This includes a limited edition blue embossed vinyl which comes with a 12x24 poster of Margot Robbie as Barbie, a hot pink vinyl, a hot pink cassette, a “Cotton Candy” vinyl, and transparent pink and blue cassette tapes.

‘Barbie’, directed by Greta Gerwig, will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023.
