The couple is rumored to have called off their engagement after accusations of infidelity
Latina singer Becky G has been making headlines lately for reportedly calling off her engagement to fiancé Sebastian Lletget after rumors of the soccer player cheating.
The singer seemingly confirmed speculations of their broken engagement by appearing on the red carpet of the iHeartRadio Music Award solo and without her previously worn engagement.
Her stunning solo red carpet look came just hours after her ex-fiancé confirmed the rumors of cheating in a lengthy Instagram post, where he described his infidelity as “a 10 minute lapse in judgment results in an extortion plot.”
How did the two meet?
The couple met the old-fashioned way, getting introduced by mutual friends. According to J-14, Becky G was filming ‘Power Rangers’ with Noami Scott, the two became friends and Scott’s husband, Jordan Spence had played soccer alongside Lletget.
So costar Scott and her husband had the idea to get the two together. After the two followed each other on Twitter, they eventually went out on a date sometime in the summer of 2016.
“On our first date we talked about everything under the moon...literally. I remember specifically stuffing my face with sushi and talking about our dreams, goals and visions for where we see ourselves... everything we talked about on that date we are now doing or working towards. Crazy how fast time has flown by,” Becky G explained at the time.
Red Carpet Debut
The two made their first red carpet debut at the 2016 Latin American Music Awards, on October 6. 2016. They continued to date for six more years making several more red-carpet appearances and social media posts together.
Engagement
The couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post in late December last year. “Our spot forever,” Becky G wrote alongside the post, which included a photo of the then-couple smiling with her stunning engagement ring.
The Breakup
The rumored split-up comes three months into the engagement and several days after an anonymous Instagram account, @ja29poo made a post claiming that Lletget had been cheating on Becky G for quite a while, and they had the proof to show it.
“Sebastian, your boyfriend, cheated on you in February and I have all the proof... I can send them to you privately. A lot of the press is contacting me because I will not remain silent,” the accuser said.
