The 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, the 30th edition of the ceremony, are to be held in just under two weeks’ time at Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

Peso Pluma dominates Billboard nominees

This year, Peso Pluma heads up the list of nominees; the Mexican singer is in contention for 21 accolades, including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year and Top Latin Album of the Year.

Peso Pluma is followed by Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny and the US band Grupo Frontera, who have 15 nominations each.

Colombian singers Karol G and Shakira, who collaborated on the girl-power anthem “Te Quedó Grande” in February, are the most-nominated female artists at the 2023 awards. They’re up for 13 and 12 prizes, respectively.

How to watch the Billboard Latin Music Awards

If you’re in the United States, you can watch the Billboard Latin Music Awards on TV on Telemundo and Universo - or head to Watsco Center to take in the event in person.

At the time of writing, tickets for the ceremony were available on the ticketing website Ticketmaster, with prices ranging from $54 to $107.

Karol G among special award recipients

This year, a total of 48 regular awards are to be handed out in a range of music genres, such as Latin pop, tropical, Latin rhythm and regional Mexican.

In addition, a number of special awards are also to be presented. They include the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is to go to the Mexican group Los Angeles Azules; the Spirit of Hope Award, which is to be given to Karol G; and the Icon Award, which will be received by Puerto Rican artist Ivy Queen.

Karol G is being honoured for her “exceptional commitment to civic, community and humanitarian causes”, Billboard say, adding that Ivy Queen’s Icon Award recognises a “pioneer of reggaeton” whose career “has remained relevant through time”.

The 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards are to take place at 7pm ET/4pm PT on Thursday 5 October 2023. As well as being broadcast on TV on Telemundo and Universo, the event will be available to stream live on Peacock and the Telemundo App.
