BLACKPINK is one of the biggest K-pop girl groups, having achieved big success in both South Korea and around the world.

One of BLACKPINk’s members, Jennie, has been enjoying her own solo success. She was the first member of the girl group to release her own first solo single back in 2019, aptly titled ‘Solo’, which she also performed during the group’s debut Coachella set that same year, becoming the first Korean solo artist to perform at the music festival.

Now Jennie will be starring alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye in the upcoming HBO series ‘The Idol’, premiering on June 4, 2023 on HBO.

Jennie remains humble despite her growing success

“Jennie on stage is charismatic and powerful, but off stage I’m just a normal, shy girl,” Jennie tells Vogue Japan, remaining humble about her growing success.

Jennie says her own positive outlook has contributed to much of her success, and gives the same advice to those who wish to follow in her footsteps.

“If you believe in yourself more than anyone else and work hard, you will definitely make things happen one way or another,” she says.

“A positive mindset is key, and filling your mind with positive thoughts can help you stay motivated. If you focus on the positive and look for solutions, you’ll find tough situations easier to overcome.”

Having a positive outlook has certainly worked out for the 27-year-old idol. This year, Jennie became the brand ambassador for her favorite luxury brand, Chanel. At the 2023 Met Gala, Jennie made her debut at the prestigious fashion gala wearing a vintage Chanel dress from 1990.

She also made her first appearance at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, alongside her ‘The Idol’ costars for the premiere of the series.

Her upcoming acting work

Jennie is set to appear in the upcoming HBO series ‘The Idol’, acting for the first time alongside Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. She also recently teased a new collab song with The Weeknd for the show’s soundtrack.

“I’ve never had to be in a place where I was surrounded by so many people that I’m not familiar with, and especially in a different language,” she told Elle USA.

“But in terms of creativity, it felt just the same [as music]. Acting needed all the creative senses that I would use in a music video or any music or any other thing that I have already been doing.

“So surprisingly, it didn’t feel too much apart from what I’ve been doing so far, which was good. So I’m just so thankful.

“And I just knew that it was something that I would regret if I didn’t go for it,” she added.
