Britney Spears asked the public to respect her privacy, after concerned fans called police to her home for a wellness check. Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrived at her Thousand Oaks home around 11p.m.

The singer sparked worry among her followers when she deleted her Instagram account on Tuesday, prompting fans to call 911 and ask the police to check on her.

The account deactivation comes just days following an announcement that the 41-year-old was changing her name to River Red.

Spears took to Twitter to defend her privacy, stating that this time things went too far.

I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded,” Spears wrote in the post. “The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately.”

Spears didn’t hold back when she told fans how she felt about the experience.

“This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,” said Spears. “During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B.”

Sources told TMZ that Spears, who has deleted her social media accounts before, was “annoyed” at the unexpected visit, and though she acknowledges the fans deeply care for her well-being, the incident was “an inconvenience”.

Sheriff’s office confirmation

Local law enforcement confirmed that they received several calls from worried fans, all expressing concern over the star’s deactivated Instagram account.

The sheriff’s office confirmed to Page Six on Wednesday that they did receive calls from worried fans about the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer, but it was not disclosed how many.

“I can confirm that we did get calls into our dispatch, and essentially, I can confirm that we don’t believe that Britney Spears is in any kind of harm or any kind of danger,” they said.
