Brooke Shields has come out about her ex-husband, tennis star Andre Agassi’s behavior following her cameo appearance on an episode of the hit show ‘Friends’.

In the episode, Shields played Erika, a stalker who’s obsessed with Joey Tribbiani (played by Matt LeBlanc), in the double-length episode ‘The One After the Superbowl.’ Shield’s performance in the episode was met with praise, but Agassi didn’t agree.

What was a funny scene was met with hostility

Shields opened up about how her ex-husband reacted to the episode in a new interview with The New Yorker. She talks about the scene in which she ends up licking co-star Matt LeBlanc’s fingers.

“In the scene, I’m supposed to lick Joey’s fingers, because they’re the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I’m a nut,” she explained. Her character believes that Joey is actually his character, Dr. Drake Ramoray, from ‘Days of Our Lives.’

“He was cute—he was, like, ‘I’ve washed my hands and they’re all clean.’ I was, like, ‘I had a mint!’

While the “finger licking” scene was originally scrapped, along with Shields’ throwing her head back and laughing, producers decided to keep the scene in the final shot.

“Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out. He said, ‘Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behavior.’ I’m, like, ‘It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?’ I learned later that he was addicted to crystal meth at that point so that irrational behavior I’m sure had something to do with that.”

Agassi opened up about his struggle with addiction in his autobiography ‘Open’ published in 2009. He had originally lied about his drug use to the ATP, before admitting he was addicted to crystal meth.

Shields then recalled that once the couple got home, Agassi proceeded to smash all his trophies.

“Who wins for that?” Shields said, “That’s just — don’t!”

The couple was married for two years

Shields and Agassi were married for two years between 1997 and 1999. At the time of the ‘Friends’ episode, the two were still dating.

In 2014, Shields spoke about her divorce from Agassi, saying that despite the issues in their relationship because of his drug use, he helped her break free from her mother, who had controlled her career since she was a child.

“He gave me my first taste of freedom from my mom. He swept me away. You’d say something and it would happen,” she said of Agassi.

“He is a devoted person, sweet and good but he had this demon, this affliction. But the other side, and what makes this so hard, is the way he welcomed me and my mother and anybody I loved. He is a really good human being.
