On July 21, Slash, the legendary guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, posted that his stepdaughter, an “incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer and a charming, lovable, sweet soul”, had passed away two days earlier. Until now, Lucy-Bleu Knight’s cause of death was not given, but that has now changed.

A press release from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that Slash’s stepdaughter died of “hydrogen sulphide toxicity” at the young age of 25. The manner of her death was suicide.

Ms. Knight was found unresponsive in a private residence on July 19 by law enforcement conducting a welfare check. Death was pronounced at 1500 hours,” the coroner’s office told The New York Post.

“An examination was performed by a deputy medical examiner on July 22. The cause of death was certified on August 29.”

Slash’s stepdaughter inhaled ‘highly toxic, colorless gas’

The Center for Disease Control says that inhalation of the “highly toxic, colorless gas” can cause nausea, headaches, delirium, disturbed equilibrium, tremors, convulsions, and skin and eye irritation, with high concentrations potentially causingrapid unconsciousness and death.” It is poisonous and flammable.

On July 28, Slash, who grew up in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK, followed up with his initial post by saying “My heart is permenantly [sic] fractured,” he wrote alongside a photo of Knight. “I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are.

The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”

Slash began dating Meegan Hodges, Knight’s mother, back in 1989. The pair split up before they decided to restart their romance in 2015.
