Award-winning actress Christina Applegate has been having a difficult time since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021. This health setback led her to change her lifestyle as she entered her 50s, she shared in an interview at Dax Shepard’s ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast.

The Dead to Me star spoke about the problems that have arisen since her diagnosis. “I have 30 lesions on my brain,” she said. “My biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot.”

Luckily, her vision has not been affected, although her condition makes it difficult for her to move her eye. It also causes unpleasant sensations.

“My hand starts to go weird and then I’ll get a seizure-y feeling sometimes in my brain,” she explained.

Applegate is aware that there has been a lot of progress to prolong the lives of patients with multiple sclerosis, but that does not assure her of anything. She knows that she could possibly not be around in 10 years.

Christina Applegate: Can’t walk five minutes straight

The actress has expressed anger at her condition. “I hate it so much. I’m so mad about it.”

She says she can’t exercise, and that she is in a lot of pain everyday, from the moment she gets on her feet in the morning. She is upset that she can barely walk for five minutes at a time.

The entertainment industry is well aware of the hell that Applegate is experiencing, and so in January, the actress received a standing ovation when she appeared at the Emmy Awards, where she delivered the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series alongside host Anthony Anderson while leaning on her cane.

“Thank you very much. Oh my god, you are shaming me for my disability by standing up. It’s okay,” she said between jokes while the audience applauded her.
