It was labeled the breakup of the week during the couple of days in which the rumor almost became reality. Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin, together since 2017, engaged since last year, made the front pages of all the gossip magazines after a source close to the Coldplay singer revealed to the Daily Mail that, after months of turbulence, both had decided to put an end to the relationship.

“Chris and Dakota have been trying desperately over the past few months to make their relationship work. They will always love each other, but they have both come to the conclusion that the relationship cannot be sustained in the long term,” said the person, who remains anonymous, adding that “They wanted it to work, but it didn’t and they have now accepted that it is best to move on.” However, despite the bluntness of the information, another exclusive from the couple itself seems to bury the crisis between the two.

Chris and Dakota “happy together”

It was the magazine People that collected the words of the actress’s representative, who assures that “they are happy and together”, flatly denying the rumors of a breakup and clarifying that in addition to the relationship, the idea of getting married is still on the table.

The alleged separation was a huge shock because of the proximity between the news and the confirmation of their engagement, which they sealed last year, but whose reality did not come to light until the beginning of this year.

“They have been in love with each other since day one, so taking the next step was inevitable. They are in no hurry to plan the wedding, they are simply enjoying making their engagement official,” a source close to the couple told the Mirror last March.

Those familiar with the couple’s romantic history thought back to the events of 2019, when, just two years after starting their relationship and after getting engaged, they decided to take a break, and saw an inevitable connection with what happened this week.

But that was in the past. And now, after a week of media turbulence, everything points to Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin still together - and their engagement still standing.
