Dark 90s classic soars back up the Netflix charts for November
With an all-star cast including Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey, the classic crime thriller has had a resurgence.

Netflix is known for its steady stream of new originals, but the platform also thrives on resurfacing older gems.
One of the latest to climb back into the spotlight is A Time to Kill, the 1996 Joel Schumacher drama with a powerhouse cast that still hits hard nearly 30 years later. The story is based on a book of the same name by John Grisham, a 1989 legal thriller that was the author’s debut novel.
The film was released seven years later with an incredible cast that has gone on to massive success in their careers. Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Spacey, and Donald and Kiefer Sutherland headline the title and it’s no surprise to see it get fresh attention. The ’90s courtroom thriller has jumped into Netflix’s list of most-watched movies worldwide.
This November, A Time to Kill reached the No. 6 spot globally, drawing more than five million viewers. It’s a reminder of how gripping the film remains, anchored by a standout performance from Samuel L. Jackson.
According to IMDb, the film’s synopsis is: “A young Mississippi lawyer defends a black man who killed the two white men that raped his preteen daughter.”
