Did WWE star Rey Mysterio actually date Jennifer Aniston?
Back when Rey Mysterio wrestled in WCW and Jennifer Aniston starred on ‘Friends’, the two were linked with one another.
Wrestling and entertainment have never been afraid to intersect with one another, with one rumor involving WWE star Rey Mysterio proof of that.
One of the most decorated wrestlers in the history of the business, the 48-year-old was recently an inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
However, outside the ring, there’s long been a rumor that Mysterio once dated Jennifer Aniston while in WCW.
How the Rey Mysterio and Jennifer Aniston rumors started
It all stems from a 1997 article in the National Inquirer that claims Mysterio and Aniston, who was starring on the NBC hit ‘Friends’ at the time, exchanged numbers.
The story also alleges that Mysterio, who briefly wrestled without a mask while in WCW, even showed the actress his face.
“She’s been to four of my matches and we’ve become good friends. She told me she loves my wrestling. I always wear my mask — ALWAYS!! It’s a big tradition in Mexico, my native country,” the article claimed. “But I broke tradition when I met Jennifer. I actually let her see me without my mask backstage.
Mysterio is also alleged to have said: “I’ve never done that for any of my fans. She really got a kick out of it. We talked for some time and exchanged home phone numbers.”
Did WWE star Rey Mysterio actually date Jennifer Aniston?
Mysterio recently appeared on Logan Paul’s ‘Impaulsive’ podcast and addressed the rumors.
Paul asked Mysterio about the story, with the wrestler joking that he dated her “for about a week”. He added that the publication just put the story out there even though there was nothing to it.
Mysterio previously talked about the story in his book, ‘Behind the Mask’, and said that he even showed the story to his wife.
“I have no idea what that was about or where it came from. Maybe somebody wanted to get my name out there and started the rumour,” he wrote.
“Anyways, I thought it was funny. I even showed the story to my wife — best coming from me, no? The locker room got on me for it.”
