After putting on a show in his pro wrestling debut for WWE at WrestleMania 37 in 2021, Bad Bunny is once again teaming up with the company.

Bad Bunny returning to WWE

The music star will host WWE ‘Backlash’, which is set to take place on Saturday, May 6 from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico - his native island.

It marks the first WWE pay-per-view event to be held in Puerto Rico since New Year’s Revolution, a show that was headlined by an Elimination Chamber, back in 2005.

“In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn’t able to attend New Year’s Revolution at el Coliseo,” said Bad Bunny. “Finally, 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won’t miss it.”

WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque added that he’s pleased to finally return to Puerto Rico, especially with Bad Bunny, one of the biggest stars in the world, in the fold.

“We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow,” said Levesque.

“Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most-popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico.”

Bad Bunny and the WWE

Bad Bunny’s return at ‘Backlash’ will be in a different role than previous appearances when he showed a willingness to get in the ring.

The singer competed at WrestleMania in 2021 and stole the show, teaming up with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz and John Morrison.

He made a surprise return in January 2022 as an entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Although his appearance wasn’t a lengthy one, he did manage to eliminate the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus from the match.

Bad Bunny will also be part of the upcoming WWE 2K23 game, which is slated to be released nationwide on March 17.

Pre-ordering any version of the game will grant users access to the Bad Bunny Bonus Pack, which includes Bad Bunny as part of the game’s roster, as well as a Ruby Bad Bunny MyFACTION Card.
