Doja Cat and SZA reunite with ‘Kill Bill’ remix
The duo teased the collaboration just hours before the release.
Doja Cat and SZA are joining forces yet again, this time with a remix of SZA’s single ‘Kill Bill. The remix comes two years after the duo saw major success with their Grammy award-winning collaboration ‘Kiss Me More.’
The duo first teased their new remix on Twitter on Thursday night. Doja Cat tweeted a cryptic message to SZA leaving fans wondering what the two got up to.
After SZA replied to Doja Cat’s first tweet, the singer kept the song a secret by only revealing the time and date of when the new project would be out.
Finally at midnight in Eastern Standard Time, SZA tweeted a link to the remixed track, with the caption “KILL BILL REMIX FEAT @DojaCat out naowwwww”. The new remix is available on all major music streaming platforms.
Previous collaborations
Doja was previously set to feature on another one of SZA’s songs, ‘Shirt’, but it didn’t end up working out due to her emergency tonsil surgery.
“She had surgery, she had to have that emergency, like, vocal cord surgery and she wasn’t ready in the time that we needed to get the song done,” SZA explained to HOT 97 at the time of her latest album, ‘S.O.S.’s’, release last year.
“There was a crossfire between, I think, her management and my management and they had told us it was done, but it wasn’t actually done. It was just a lot of confusion.”
SZA went on to say that regardless of what happened, she still wanted to collaborate with Doja Cat again in the future, “but I don’t know. I hope for the best, and I’m still, like, a major fan of her and her artistry. And I think she’s so incredible and I would love to get her on the deluxe [version].”
Kiss Me More’s success
The last collaboration between the two of them saw major commercial and award-show success. ‘Kiss Me More’, which was included on Doja Cat’s last album ‘Planet Her’, ended up winning a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and also scored nominations for Record of the Year and Song of The Year.
‘Kiss Me More,’ peaked in the third slot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also ended up making it to 11 different “Best Songs of 2021″ lists by major music publications such as Pitchfork and Complex.
