Donald Trump bashes Rihanna online yet again

Former U.S. President Donald Trump doubled down on his anti-Rihanna sentiment soon after the singer finished her Super Bowl halftime show late Sunday Evening.

The post was originally posted to Truth Social, a social media platform created by Trump after he was given a lifetime ban from Twitter.

“EPIC FAIL: Rihanna gave, without question, the single worst Halftime Show in Super Bowl history — This after insulting far more than half of our Nation, which is already in serious DECLINE, with her foul and insulting language,”

“Also, so much for her ‘Stylist!’” he also added.

History of the feud

Trump’s comments appear to be in reference to a 2020 incident where Rihanna spray-painted a car with “F**k Trump,” Which Representative Ronny Jackson brought up on Truth Social earlier this week.

Rihanna however has been vocal countless times about her dislike for Trump. In 2018, she called his rallies ‘tragic’ on Twitter and asked that her music not be played at his events.

Trump also made some critical comments about the singer earlier this week before the Halftime show. Again on Truth Social, he wrote,

“Without her ‘Stylist’ she’d be NOTHING. Bad everything, and NO TALENT!”

Although not mentioning him by name, Trump is likely referring to Rihanna’s creative director and stylist Jahleel Weaver, who she has worked with since 2011.

Rihanna did not respond to either of Trump’s recent criticisms as of yet.

Successful halftime performance

Despite the criticisms, Rihanna’s return to the stage was considered largely a success by fans. The singer brought high energy to the stage, performed with a massive group of backup dancers and even used the opportunity to announce her pregnancy.

According to USA Today, the singer was asked to perform at the Super Bowl in 2019 but declined. At the time, the NFL struggled to find performers because many of their potential prospects including Rihanna stood in solidarity with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The athlete sparked controversy in 2016 after kneeling during a pregame national anthem to protest social inequality and police brutality. The athlete was soon rejected by NFL team owners after controversy arose.
