Elton John spends the night in hospital after a slip at home
The legendary singer-songwriter was hospitalised after suffering a fall in his house in Nice, France.
Elton John was hospitalized after a serious fall at his home in Nice, southern France last weekend.
The 76-year-old was at home with his family when he slipped. The singer’s husband, David Furnish, took him to a local health centre as a precaution. After staying at the Princess Grace of Monaco hospital overnight John has now returned home.
His representative has issued a statement: “We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure.”
“Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health,” the statement read.
He was released and sent home on Monday morning after passing a number of medical tests. He will continue his recovery alongside his partner and their two children at his home on the French Riviera.
Will Elton John play live again?
In early July Elton John brought his Farewell Yellow Brick Road retirement tour to a close, potentially drawing the curtain on one of the most spell-binding careers in the history of pop music.
He headlined the Glastonbury music festival in late June and finished his globe-trailing retirement tour in Sweden in July. Ahead of that final show, John wrote on Instagram: “What a journey this tour has been and now we find ourselves at the end of it. Tonight is the final night.”
Nevertheless, he has not ruled out appearing on stage again, but only under certain circumstances.
If he releases new music the singer has hinted that he would consider returning to the stage, for specific events, to perform. He admitted recently that long tours have become less attractive and he wants to spend more time with his family.
