The Sandlers out and about
Born in May 2003, Sadie Sandler is the eldest daughter of the 56-year-old ‘Billy Madison’ actor and former fashion model Jackie Sandler. Sadie has a 14-year-old sister, Sunny, who also joins in the family business.
Sadie and Sunny regular accompany their father for premieres and photoshoots. The first sighting was on the red carpet in Paris back in March for a for Murder Mystery 2, where she posed with their father’s co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Mélanie Laurent. At the 24th annual Mark Twain awards at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. later that month, the teenager accompanied her father once again. She was dressed in a black dress and was photographed again with Aniston, as well as Drew Barrymore.
In a recent interview for Variety magazine, Bat Mitzvah director Sammi Cohen gave an insight in to what it was like working with his two daughters on his latest movie. “Sunny and Sadie were attached when I came on board, I knew I’d be working with them - that was part of my excitement, getting to work with the girls, and then we built out the cast from there. It really came from the girls and we built the world around them. We wanted the Friedman family to feel warm, sweet, goofy, normal, relatable,” Cohen explained.
“There wasn’t a huge struggle for me in terms of working with them. Adam plays dad to his daughters, but they’re able to detach. When we enter the Friedman house and we’re making the movie, it’s its own thing. I think there’s such a beautiful natural chemistry you get — I love that moment in the car when Adam fake-spills the coffee on her. There are just these beautiful little moments that feel so slice-of-life. But Adam gave the girls space to do their own thing. Everyone had space to do what they do best, but there’s also support when you needed it”.
