Foo Fighters release new song ‘Under you’ and announce upcoming album
The band shared new song ‘Under you’ along with a promise of a June 2 album release.
Foo Fighters have announced the release of their upcoming album, ‘But Here We Are’, set to be released June 2, 2023.
The news comes along with the upcoming album’s song list reveal, and even a release of the album’s leading track, ‘Under You’.
“It came in a flash/It came out of nowhere,” the song’s opening lyrics say. “It happened so fast/And then it was over.”
The Foo Fighters album, produced by Foo Fighters and Greg Kurstin and released by Roswell Records and RCA Records, will be available June 2.
The significance of Foo Fighters’ new album
‘But Here We Are’ is the first music Foo Fighters have released since the tragic and untimely death of their long-time drummer, Taylor Hawkins, in March 2022.
The band remarked that the album is “the first chapter of the band’s new life”.
“[B]rutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year,” the band’s press statement reads.
The hard time the press release refers to is the loss of their friend and drummer, who died suddenly at the age of 50 in Bogotá, Colombia while the band was on tour. Foo Fighters immediately canceled the rest of their shows.
The band did two tribute shows for Hawkins late in 2022, and plan to resume touring for the upcoming festival circuit beginning in May.
How many albums do Foo Fighters have?
Foo Fighters have 10 studio albums already under their belts, with the most recent record being ‘Medicine at Midnight’ in 2021.
The two-year period between albums is somewhat of a record for the band, as the last time they were able to turn out an album so quickly was ‘In Your Honor’ in 2005 and ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace’ in 2007.
