From Game of Thrones to the ‘Fifth Beatle’
Harry Lloyd’s Viseys Targaryen met a grisly end in the iconic franchise. Now, he will star in the upcoming Beatles biopic.

Working on ‘Game of Thrones’ has made many unknown actors into worldwide stars. That is what happened to Harry Lloyd, who played Viserys Targaryen in the first season of the show.
His brief but essential role in the origin of Daenerys Targaryen defined the character for the rest of the series. Now, the actor has been confirmed as a key role the upcoming Beatles biopic.
Lloyd will portray George Martin, known as “the fifth Beatle,” one of the key figures in translating the group’s incredible talent into era-defining music. The producer shaped the creation of their most important songs and added nuances that helped define the anthems they composed.

The actor joins the rest of the confirmed cast. Representing the band will be Harrison Dickinson (John Lennon), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) and Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr). Their partners will be portrayed by Anna Sawai (Yoko Ono), Saoirse Ronan (Linda McCartney), Aimee Lou (Pattie Boyd) and Mia McKenna-Bruce (Maureen Starkey).
Sony’s plan for the Beatles biopic is for Sam Mendes to direct one film for each band member and release them simultaneously in April 2028. Production will begin in late 2026.
For ‘Game of Thrones’ fans the eventual death of Viserys Targaryen was one of the most memorable of the countless killings in the show. The older brother subjected his sister to inhumane treatment and attempted to use her as a bargaining chip to gain the favor of the Dothraki people.
The relationship between Khal Drogo and Daenerys developed gradually, before Viserys challenged Drogo and demanded payment. What followed as a brutal death as Drogo poured molten gold over his head, declaring it: “A crown for the king.”
