Update:

It’s been almost 12 months since British movie director Sam Mendes was given the green light to create four biopics of the members of The Beatles. It’s the first time that Apple Corps Ltd and two surviving members of the band Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, have given their blessing to tell their life story.

Mendes, a huge fan of the band, envisioned making four separate movies - each one dedicated to a band member. John, Paul, George and Ringo will tell their own story - and the Beatles’ own fascinating story - one full of happy coincidences, serendipity, chance meetings, as well as a host of influential fellow travelers, who either helped to shape them or guided them on their astonishing journey.

Four lads who conquered the world

Four stories, told by four extraordinary musicians, narratives that are interlaced and interconnected that tell their relationship with each other and the world at that moment in time.

No other band has been has mythologized quite like the Beatles, and even though the group in it’s classic lineup was only together for eight years, Mendes has a job on his hands to tell it’s tangled tale - especially now, 55 years after the group split up.

Sadly, there are fewer and fewer first-hand witnesses around - many of those who knew the Beatles or even saw them perform are no longer with us.

Which actors will play the Beatles in Sam Mendes’ new biopic?

The four actors who will play The Beatles in Mendes’ biopics have now been confirmed by CinemaCon 2025.

Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will take on the role of John Lennon, Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn will step into the shoes of George Harrison.

Mendes explained that he was determined to avoid creating a miniseries. “We need major cinematic events to get people out of their homes,” the American Beauty and Skyfall director said. “The story was too vast to fit into a single movie. It’s an opportunity to understand them on a deeper level”.

While provisional titles and release order remain undisclosed, all four films are slated to hit theaters in April 2028.
