Gap to honor Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss with limited edition collection

The new campaign, which pays tribute to Boss’ memory, will be available on January 31.

Gap and Brooklyn Circus founder Ouigi Theodore has announced that the brand will pay tribute to Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ memory with a limited-edition capsule collection.

The collaboration, which debuts on January 31, features the late ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ DJ wearing several pieces from the line.

Prior to his passing he was a central part of the campaign due to his friendship with Theodore.

The Brooklyn Circus and Gap share in the heartbreaking loss of beloved icon Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, who was a longtime supporter of the BKc community, [founder and creative director] Ouigi’s work and a core part of this campaign thanks to his personal friendship with Ouigi Theodore,” read a press release for the campaign.

Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, shared her support of the collection.

“When Stephen first saw his images from the campaign, it brought tears to our eyes,” Holker said.

“He was so moved by how they captured his true essence, and he was excited for the world to see them. We pay tribute to Stephen’s life by sharing these images in homage to the joy and light he brought to everyone around him.”

Other stars that will feature in the Gap x The Brooklyn Circus campaign include ‘Pose’ actor Indya Moore, ‘Euphoria’ star Javon Walton and model and activist Bethann Hardison.

According to the press release, the collaboration “explores the concepts of individuality, movement and modern prep — blending academia, music and Black culture and street style from the 1960s through today.”

Stephen will feature posthumously

What is particularly striking about this new campaign is the fact that it features images of Stephen from before his death.

It would have been easy for these pictures to be confined to the archives and hidden from the world, but Gap have elected to utilize them with the permission of his wife and family.

One particular photo showcases Stephen midway through a dance move, striking a pose in a varsity jacket. It will be the main promotional image behind the campaign.

Gap will also pay tribute to the late Boss by supporting The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and donating to the Vibrant Emotional Health in his honour. The organization provides free and confidential support and care to those in need.

Stephen died by suicide on December 13, with his wife Allison confirming the news the following day.
