Update:

A fresh collaboration is on the way between filmmaker Noah Baumbach and streaming giant Netflix: they’re launching a drama-filled comedy titled Jay Kelley, which follows a celebrated movie star confronting the choices of his life.

What is Jay Kelley about?

In the film, George Clooney plays Jay Kelley, a long-famous actor whose public identity overshadows his inner self. When he sets off on a cross-European journey with his manager Ron (played by Adam Sandler), the two face a number of questions of regret, of relationships, and of legacy. Along the way, the film touches on notions of fame and self-reflection.

Noah Baumbach, known for his nuanced, character-driven films, directs and co-writes the screenplay. He collaborated with Emily Mortimer, who not only co-writes but also appears in the film.

Leading the cast is George Clooney as Jay Kelley, the titular star grappling with identity and legacy; Esquire call his performance “all-time great”. Adam Sandler stars as Ron, Jay’s loyal manager whose own life intertwines with his client’s.

Supporting cast members include Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gerwig, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Lenny Henry, Emily Mortimer, Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Isla Fisher, Louis Partridge, and Charlie Rowe.
