In late December, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison nearly eight years after her incarceration. In 2016, Blanchard was sentenced to a decade behind bars in connection with the murder of her mother, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard, in which she was involved with her partner, Nicholas Godejohn, who was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, without the possibility of parole.

For years, Gypsy’s situation was followed by the media and social network users thanks to the attention generated after the series ‘The Act’, based on her case. That is why, even in prison, Blanchard received support and letters, including some from the man who would become her husband. However, three months after his release from prison, they have separated.

According to People, Blanchard reported the split from Ryan Scott Anderson on Facebook. “People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou,” she wrote in a statement obtained through her private Facebook account.

“I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am,” she added.

The couple married in a prison ceremony without guests in July 2022. In an interview with People, Blanchard had indicated that she planned to marry him again after his release .

“We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that,” she said at the time.

“Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else,” she added.

Earlier this month, Gypsy announced that she would be deleting her public social media accounts. People was told by a source that she had been advised by her parole officer to get rid of them so that she wouldn’t “get in trouble and go back to jail.”

Before wiping clean her online platforms, she apologized to “all the people that I offended with a lack of accountability,” after her release from prison in a video on TikTok.

“I’m sorry,” she said expalining that she was trying to improve. “I’m learning. I take accountability for my part, and I’m saying this right now. I’m taking accountability. I did a bad thing.”
