What is the new Steven Spielberg film?
Spielberg is no stranger to the area having moved to the Haddon Township, New Jersey during his childhood. He has previously directed film in the state too, such as his 2021 take on ‘West Side Story’ and ‘War of the Worlds’ (2005).
And although it wasn’t actually filmed in New Jersey, ‘The Fabelmans’ recounts his formative experienced as an aspiring filmmaker. The movie is set in his own town of Haddon Township and was nominated for seven awards at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
Speaking about the movie and his roots in New Jersey, Spielberg explained: "I started seriously thinking, if I had to make one movie I haven’t made yet, something that I really want to do on a very personally atomic level, what would that be? And there was only one story I really wanted to tell."
