Legendary competitive eater Joey Chestnut set a new record for eating hot dogs when he beat Takeru Kobayashi on Netflix’s eating battle, ‘Unfinished Beef.’
Legendary hot dog devourer Joey Chestnut has cemented his dominance over his rival Takeru Kobayashi when they went head-to-head in Las Vegas on Netflix’s eating competition titled “Unfinished Beef.”
Chestnut wolfed down 83 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, while Kobayashi put up a worthy fight and chowed down 66. Although he trailed the champion by a mile, Kobayashi set a new personal record with his effort.
Chestnut was simply unstoppable, and his latest feat earned him a new world record.

Kobayashi and Chestnut make waves on Coney Island
Kobayashi and Chestnut have long been prominent figures in competitive eating, with their exploits at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog eating contest ramping up their rivalry. The Japanese was the first to make his name in the Coney Island event, winning six straight victories beginning 2001.
However, Chestnut burst into the scene in 2007 and dethroned Kobayashi.
The Netflix contest was the first match up between the two in 15 years, the last time being the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog eating contest held on the Fourth of July in 2009. Kobayashi stopped competing in the annual contest after that year because he refused to sign an exclusive contract with Major League Eating.
Chestnut and Kobayashi are the only men’s competitors who have won the Nathan’s contest more than four times. Kobayashi holds six Mustard Belts, while Chestnut owns an unbelievable 16 titles. The “Unfinished Beef” champion did not compete for a 17th Nathan’s belt on the Fourth of July this year because he had signed an agreement with another organization.
