How many times has Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live?

The celebrated Canadian actor will be back in the SNL presenter’s seat for this week’s show on NBC.

Canadian actor Ryan Gosling is very much one of the ‘men of the moment’ with his performance as Ken in Barbie propelling the Ontario born into the major leagues.

Three Golden Globe nominations for ‘Lars and the Real Girl’ (2007), ‘Blue Valentine (2010) along with 2011′s nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ boosted the actor’s career and profile which was cemented with his nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Actor for ‘The Ides of March.’

In 2016, he achieved another major success with ‘La La Land’ alongside Emma Stone, a role that earned him his second Oscar nomination for Best Actor and his first Golden Globe but it was his performance in the biggest grossing movie of 2023 which made Gosling a household name globally.

Despite Barbie being nominated for eight Oscar Awards (with Gosling nominated in the best supporting actor category) the film was eclipsed on the night by Oppenheimer with Barbie bagging just one award and that for Best Original Song, for Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”.

The 43-year-old did manage to perform his “I’m Just Ken” track at the Oscar ceremony in LA recently and was joined on stage by English musician and Barbie album producer Mark Ronson along with iconic guitarist Slash of Guns n’ Roses fame delivering a full session of ‘Kenergy’.

Gosling back on SNL

The 13 April edition of Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Gosling and will be the third time the Canadian has taken the hot seat with his previous hosting duties coming back in 2015 and 2017.

SNL remains one of the US’ most successful shows delivering entertainment, music mixed with topical humor reflecting politics and current events.

Guesting on Saturday with Gosling will be singer-songwriter Christopher Stapleton who is set to perform tracks form his latest studio album ‘Higher’ (2023 Mercury Nashville).
