The games have captured the imagination of many with the broadcast commencing with a special rendition from the Christmas Queen of the 20th century as Mariah Carey performed a specially recorded version of ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’.

Half-time in the second game will include one of the biggest names in music as Beyonce takes centre stage at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

Half-time set

Beyoncé gave nothing away pre-game about her halftime performance but as expected, much of the repertoire hailed from her latest release, Cowboy Carter including “16 Carriages”, “Blackbird”, “Jolene”, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “Riverdance”. Post Malone was also a special guest showcasing on “Leviis’ Jeans”. The album which saw a bold move into country music, has been a hit with fans and critics alike.

Beyonce and Netflix’s pockets deepen

Back in 2019, the Houston native penned a deal with Netflix worth a reported $60 million for a series of projects which included the release of her documentary film, Homecoming, which featured her electronic Coachella performance in 2018.

Business insiders also claim that the singer is set to be paid $20M specifically for this NFL half-time show in Texas.

Analysts estimate that the two NFL Christmas Day games could generate $150 million in advertising revenue, effectively covering Netflix’s $150 million investment in the broadcast rights.
